Encouragement given to National Young Farmers Scheme under NALDA to Nigerian youth
The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) is incharge of this programme. NALDA is a body established in 1992 but it went into extinction in 2000. However under the administration of the President Muhammadu Buhari, it was revived to carry out its mandate of developing rural communities through agriculture and to make agriculture a business and a source of wealth creation for the country. sector.
This projects final goal would be to encourage, empower and guide 1000 farmers from each of the 774 LGAs in Nigeria each year. This programme is intended to cut across all facets of agriculture.
Update on National Young Farmers Scheme 2020/2021
The Nigeria Young Farmers Network (NYFN) was founded in 2014 and it brings together a diverse range of people who are united by their passion for progression and commitment to achieve inclusive and sustainable economic development throuhg Agriculture.
NALDA is currently running a pilot programme that involves 100 farmers from each of the 774 LGAs of the country. For more information about this scheme visit a NALDA office closest to you.
