THE MEANING OF QUALIFIED FOR SELECTION UNDER NATIONAL MERIT
When a candidate is qualified under National Merit, it shows that the candidate exceeds the State Quota and gets the National Merit Cut Off of 170 and above. This simply means that the candidate will be admitted into the school he or she selected and first choice and his or her name will come out on Merit List.
THE MEANING OF QUALIFIED FOR SELECTION UNDER STATE QUOTA
Candidate that is selected under state quota simply implies that the candidate did not meet up to National Merit Cut Off of 170 and above but was considered for admission under state quota, that, is state cut off mark. This means his or her name will come out or is considered for admission either in his first or second choice depending on the number of persons that were shortlisted under merit.
THE MEANING OF NOT QUALIFIED FOR SELECTION
This simply means that the candidate did not get up to the State’s Quota or Cut Off Mark or Point let alone the National Merit Cut Off Point. It shows that candidate will not considered for admission unless maybe via supplementary which is rarely possible.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER IS NOT QUALIFIED FOR SELECTION OR ADMISSION INTO FEDERAL UNITY SCHOOLS
It is not a do or die affair that your son or daughter must attend Federal College, if there is no way for selection, you can enroll him or her into other nice schools or you prepare the child from now against next Entrance Examination. At least before the exam date, he or her must have been prepared.

First choice is King’s College Lagos. How does this notification differs or related to the 170 cut off stated on this site and would he be admitted into the school- KC on merit level?
Regards,
Abiodun

Hi basedonnews,
Your response to my request of 24th of May at about 9:13am got more worried especially as similar request from Joy had a different response. By 174, will she be in merit or supplementary list of QC?
NATIONAL MERIT STARTS FROM 150 UNLESS IF THE STUDENTS THAT SCORED ABOVE 150 IS MANY BUT IT IS LIKELY IMPOSSIBLE… ONCE YOUR CHILD SCORES UP TO 150 HE OR SHE HAS 90% OF GAINING ADMISSION
Please my son scored 152 and we are yet to get his admission. Please is there still hope
Yes, admission is in progress
I haven’t gotten anything different on his page. What should I do?
Fgc ijanikin and ikole ekiti are his choices

My son scored 103 and he is from Bauchi state. His result read QUALIFIED FOR SELECTION UNDER STATE QUOTA. He choose FGC Okigwe as 1st choice and FGC Nise as 2nd choice. What chances does he have for admission in his 1st choice school?
He will be considered for admission
Is it his 1st choice school FGC Okigwe that he will be considered or will they post him to another school.
When are we expecting the list
Thanks for your feedback. Still unclear why the notification reads qualified for selection on national merit.
Kindly help elucidate.

Most schools had completed their admission. You better rush to any of the schools and meet the Principal. They are resuming on 9th October. You better rush now and meet the Principal. 174 is on National Merit and the school will take the child immediately. Go now and stop wasting time

My son scored 155 and he choose FGC ijanikin Lagos as first choice and his admission status still showing not admitted, can someone please explain these to me? Because I don’t understand what they mean by not admitted, does it mean he will not be given admission . Please help me out
It means, he is yet to be admitted… Meanwhile, you can go to the school to see if they are still taking students
Please is any batch of admission list still coming out? Because my son scored 155 and his admission status still showing not admitted and I try to visit the school but security refuse to allowed me to see the school principal. Please is any hope of him getting admission, if there no hope they should let us know because first time is already gone. So that we can look for alternative for him please.
Look for alternative first

Please I’m very disturbed with my daughter result in this common entrance based on her school of choose Queen’s College yaba.
She score 186 mark and she from Lagos state.
Please what is her chance of getting admitted into Queen’s college.
It depends on other pupils performances… If she’s among the best, definitely she will be considered
