NDE Special Public Works (SPW) 774,000 Recruitment Today News Update

Festus Keyamo insisted that the SPW 774,000 jobs are basically meant for everyday labourers to carry out community services.

According to his tweet: “The 774,000 jobs is basically for our everyday labourers to carry out community services.”

“It would not be financially prudent if the Government were to spend billions for expensive equipment for 3-month jobs, then spend millions again training our labourers on how to use these equipment.”

As we could vividly recall, the programme was designed to employ 1,000 Nigerians from each of the 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria was initially scheduled for launch on October 1, 2020.

The initiative ran into delays due to the issues between Festus Keyamo and the Director-General, National Directorate of Employment, Dr Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Argungu, who was sacked last year’s December.

Every one of the 774,000 workers will get N20,000 monthly for 3 months duration of the job.

The nature of the FG 774000 SPW Job

  • The transient job programme is a dry season off-farm transient job initiative of the Federal Government aimed at mitigating the socio-economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The jobs are environment specific relating to maintenance of feeder roads, drainages, market and masses-oriented projects.”
  • The beneficiaries will work within their locality without bearing much transport burden. One of the criteria is that they must be resident in the local government area. Breaking it down to project sites, it depends on projects that are obtainable in their wards.
  • By design, each electoral ward will have two graduate supervisors who will ensure that the beneficiaries are going to do their work. The graduate supervisors are chosen from the 774,000 beneficiaries without incurring extra cost.
