Recruit promising students to train highly qualified personnel and support research in secondary wood processing.

Scholarship amount

1 scholarship of $25,000 (2 installments of $12,500. The 2nd installment is conditional on the progress of the student. Non-renewable scholarship.)

  • Master’s degree in wood engineering and biobased materials – with thesis

Requirements/Eligibility for University of Laval 2023/2024 Maibec Scholarship Application Form

  • Have maintained a bachelor’s program average greater than 3.00/4.33 or the equivalent at the time of applying for the scholarship
  • Have started in the winter of 2023 or have submitted a complete application for admission for the summer 2023 or fall 2023 session to the master’s program in wood and biobased materials engineering with thesis before April 3, 2023
  • Have a research project related to the secondary wood processing sector. Here are some examples:
  1. Material durability
  2. Wood protection
  3. Wood strength
  4. building envelope
  5. Drying
  6. Characteristics of wood fibers

Commit to continuing their studies full-time* (or deemed full-time according to Aide financière aux études) for the duration of their study program

Note: Part-time student (6 to 11 credits): If you are recognized as a student parent under the terms of Université Laval’s Student Parent Policy, you could be considered eligible for this contest. To this end, it is your responsibility to provide us with the certificate issued by the Registrar’s Office by uploading it to the appropriate section of the form. Note that a period of 7 working days is to be expected for obtaining this document.
