What is Industrial Training?

Industrial Training is what every students must do as it is taken as the time students do practical outside the school environment in a good organization related to his/her field to enhance his/her efficiency in the field.

Industrial training refers to training students embark on to get experience as related to their different fields of study. It last in a particular time frame a period of 3 to 6 months. School does their own work theoretically, but during IT, students are taught practically.

Chapter one

This entails the work proper. It comprises of the introduction and the objectives of the program. This is where student talk more about Students Work Industrial Experience Scheme (SIWES) or Industrial Training (IT). What the training is all about is expected to be stated clearly by all students in their reports.

In the objectives of the program, students are expected to state the importance of the training regarding to the benefits they derived in the training.

Chapter Two

It comprises of the following: the description of the establishment of the place where the training was obtained. This is where students doing their report are expected to discuss more on the history of the establishment; location, when it was established and general tips of the establishment.

Then, objectives of the establishment. This is where the student explains the different operations carried out in the institution he has undergone the training. That is; what they do and their major areas of specialization.

Organizational structure including the organogram of the establishment. This is where the student explains what the different operations/offices in the organization specializes on. That is; what they do in contribution to the company.

Organizational chart. This is where the student makes a sketch, describing the different ranks/offices in the organization starting from the head/director to the last person/group.

Also, the student explains what they do and what they are capable of doing, stating clearly their responsibilities.

For instance; Managing Director: He is the owner of the organization. He is the general overseer and who makes the final decision in the office. You can use this method for others.

The various departments in the establishment and its function. This is where the student enumerates the different sections in the organization. Also, after stating the different sections or departments, the student is expected to explain their functions.

For instance; Fast Food Section: This is a place where productions are made such as ice cream, chin-chin, jellof rice, moi-moi etc. use this pattern for others, depending on what you are working on.

Chapter Three

This is where the student explains more of his/her activities in the organization. The experience gained and what he/she learnt during the work in the institution. Finally, the student states what he/she can do on his or her own regarding to what the institution specializes on.

For instance; in general experience acquired, the student may say; I learnt how to do this or that etc.

Chapter Four

Problems encountered. The student must have experienced lots of problem while undergoing the training in the institution. This is an opportunity for the student to express his/her self. The problem could be; inability to operate the machines, light problem, security problem etc.

Chapter Five

Recommendation and conclusion

In recommendation, the student talks on what he wants the Students Industrial Training Work Experience (SIWES) to put in place. What they should provide and how most problems should be solved.

In conclusion, the student make conclusion using the information you extracted from the previous chapters then saying more on the reasons why SIWES programme should continue. That is, summarize your report in three or four paragraphs.
