REASONS WHY PEOPLE ARE NOT SHORTLISTED AFTER APPLYING FOR A SCHOLARSHIP

  1. YOU DID NOT MEET UP WITH THE ELIGIBILITY

Some people apply for any scholarship they sees around, all they want is to be shortlisted so that they can become a beneficiary of one. They fail to check if they are eligible for applying. Kindly check the eligibility of any scholarship to know if you are qualified or not. If you are eligible apply, then if you are not eligible, I will advice don’t and save the energy to apply for other ones.

  1. FAILURE TO PROVIDE ALL THE REQUIREMENTS

Most students don’t check if the documents they have for the application is complete. They upload any available document to substitute the one expected or required to be uploaded. This has made most students to seem as if they have wasted their efforts. Get your documents ready before applying and make sure you upload the right one required to be uploaded.

  1. INCOMPLETE APPLICATION

Some starts application but does not finish before submitting. How then do you think you will be shortlisted? They think you are not serious or maybe you are no longer serious with it. If you really need it, devote your time and concentrate while applying for it. Once you start, try to finish it… that is making sure you submit. Always proofread your fillings before you submit.

  1. FAILURE TO APPLY ON TIME

This is one thing with most students, always applying very late or on the day of closure. Remember this popular adage ‘FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE’, if they are expected to shortlist a certain number of applicants may be 5000 applicants all over the country and you applied very late or on the deadline date, how do you think you will be shortlisted when more than the required numbers, above 5000 have applied. Always ‘strike while the iron is still hot’. Apply on time, preferably the date the scholarship commences/opens for application as it gives you the assurance to be shortlisted.

  1. ERRORS WHILE APPLYING

You are all expected to fill the form perfectly not minding the usual saying ‘NOBODY IS ABOVE MISTAKE’. Lots of error in your application contributes to the reasons why you are not shortlisted. Wrong uploads, wrong spellings, wrong grammar in filling your form is one of the reasons why people are not shortlisted.

  1. APPLYING THROUGH THE WRONG SITE

This is one of the major reasons why people are not shortlisted after their application. Visiting or opening the wrong site can make one apply to the wrong company. Always follow the right source like www.basedonnews.com for an update and direct link from the company hosting it. You can easily subscribe to the site to be getting updates using your email address or you like their Facebook page. Adhere to this to avoid wasting your money, time, energy and high expectation that your name will be among those that would be shortlisted.

  1. COPYING DIRECTLY FROM THE INTERNET

Everyone needs not to stress his/herself. The works you copied on line has links which may make you not to be shortlisted. When you are asked to write short essay while applying, you rushed to google.com to copy already made work immediately. This alone shows that you will not be shortlisted because they believe you cannot express yourself in simple terms. One may ask how they knew. They knew you copied from internet through the links in the words you copied from. Kindly read the one on the internet to get clue of what you are writing on.

  1. USING UNCLEAR DOCUMENTS

Some students use their cell phones as camera which may not be very clear for the people in charge to see. Always use clear scanning machine to scan your documents, ensure it’s clear before you upload or send to their email address.

  1. SENDING TO THE WRONG EMAIL ADDRESS

This is indeed another point to discuss on. Some sends their documents to the wrong email address which automatically shows there is no way you can be shortlisted since they did not know you – as your documents did not come to them. If it’s scholarship that requires uploading of scanned documents to their email address, try to check and copy the right email address and send to the right one. Any misspelling on the email address shows it will not go.

  1. USING INVALID EMAIL ADDRESS/PHONE NUMBER

This is the most painful one. Some uses non existing email addresses or phone numbers to apply. Then whenever there is notification from the scholarship board may be informing them that they are shortlisted/ qualified, they cannot access it. So create a valid email address and use your phone number to apply for any scholarship.

We strongly believe, if you can adhere to this and do the right thing at the right time, you will be shortlisted and you will automatically become a beneficiary.
