University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Certificate Predegree programme 2019/2020 Academic Session Admission Registration is ongoing for interested candidates. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates, for admission into any of the following one year Pre-Degree Programmes in the Faculties of Humanities and Education for the 2019/2020 Session. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME

Candidates should possess WASC/SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB Ordinary Level with credit passes in 5 relevant subjects. See the list of subjects below for details.

O’ Level Subjects: English Language, Literature-in-English, CRK/IRK, Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Agric. Science, Physics, A Nigerian Language (Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba),Fine Arts, History or Government, French, Further Mathematics, Music, Commerce.

FACULTY OF HUMANITIES O’LEVEL SUBJECTS REQUIREMENTS JAMB SUBJECTS REMARKS
Fine Arts & Design [FAD] Five O’ level credits in English Language and any other four subjects from the O’ level subjects listed above. English Language and any other three subjects as listed under the O’ level subjects
Foreign Languages & Literatures (French Preparatory [FFP]) Five O’Level credits in English Language and any other four subjects from Arts and Social Sciences as listed under the O’ level subjects English Language and any other two subjects from Arts and Social Sciences as listed under the O’ level subjects (i) For Successful Candidates from the Pre-degree Programme, credit in French is not compulsory

Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counselling (EDP) Five O’ level credits in English Language and any other four subjects from the O’Level subjects listed above. English Language and three other subjects as listed above.
Adult and Non-Formal Education (DAE) Five O’ level credits in English Language and any other four subjects applicable to the specific Teaching subjects as application in EDF, EDM or CSET. English Language, the teaching subject and two relevant subjects as applicable in EDF, EDM and CSET.
Human Kinetics and Health Education (KHE) Five O’ level credits in English Language, one Science subject preferably Biology, and any other three subjects from the O’Level subjects as listed above. English Language, and science subject and two other subjects as listed above.

ELIGIBILITY/QUALIFICATION FOR UNIPORT CERTIFICATE PREDEGREE PROGRAMME 2019/2020

The Programme is open to applicants with a minimum of five (5) Credits in not more than two sittings in English Language and other relevant subjects [in GCE, SSCE, NECO, NABTEB & TC II (TC II is applicable for applicants for Faculty of Education)].

COURSE DURATION FOR UNIPORT CERTIFICATE PREDEGREE PROGRAMME 2019/2020

The Programme is for a period of one year (one academic session).

COMMENCEMENT DATE FOR UNIPORT CERTIFICATE PREDEGREE PROGRAMME 2019/2020

How much is UNIPORT Certificate Programme

A fee of Eighteen Thousand Naira only (N18,000.00), including bank charges is required.

Banks where one can pay for UNIPORT Certificate Programme

Payment can be made online or at the following banks nationwide:

  1. U &C Microfinance Bank LTD 
  2. Access Bank 
  3. First Bank
  4. UBA
  5. Fidelity Bank

The names on candidates’ O’ Level Certificates must be same as what is filled online. Any False information given automatically disqualifies the applicant.

APTITUDE TEST FOR UNIPORT CERTIFICATE PREDEGREE PROGRAMME 2019/2020

The University Aptitude Test will take place on Friday, 8th  November, 2019

Venue for UNIPORT Certificate Predegree Programme Aptitude Test

The Venue shall be the Ashgrove Academy, UNIPORT.

Materials Needed for the Screening Exercise

Candidates are required to come with the following and be at the Venue by 8.00am

  • A clear copy of Photocard printed online
  • Biro, HB pencil, eraser
  • Non – Programmable Calculator

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION THROUGH THE PROGRAMME INTO YEAR ONE DEGREE PROGRAMME

To transit to the Degree Programme, in addition to the required 5 O’Level Credits, the candidate must:

  • PASS THE PRESCRIBED PRE-DEGREE EXAMINATIONS
  • HAVE THE APPROPRIATE UNIFIED TERTIARY MATRICULATION EXAMINATION (UTME) SUBJECT COMBINATION AND
  • HAVE THE NATIONAL MINIMUM SCORE IN THE 2020/2021 UTME AND MUST HAVE CHOSEN THE UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT
