Walmart $1.4 Billion Grant for Business Owners Application Form: Apply Here

Walmart.org supports work directly related to our philanthropic priorities and markets where Walmart operates. For some programs, we invite proposals by directly contacting organizations. For others, we publish requests for proposals (RFPs), accept concept notes or have an open application process. See below for more information to help you get started.

Application Process

1. Learn About Our Giving Priorities
Familiarize yourself with our following initiatives to see if your work aligns:
  • Creating Opportunity
  • Advancing Sustainability
  • Strengthening Community
  • Center for Racial Equity
If you believe it does, you can find grant application instructions at the end of each program description.
2. Review Program Guidelines
Eligibility guidelines vary by program, so it is important to review program-specific guidelines to understand your organization’s eligibility. Initiatives that accept applications throughout the year in the form of an open application include:
  • Local Community Grants
  • Norwest Arkansas Giving Program
There is currently one initiative accepting applications for grants in the form of concept notes:
  • Healthier Food for All
For the remainder of our focus areas, grant applications are accepted by invitation only. Unsolicited proposals will not be accepted, and invitations are not granted upon request. Occasionally, open requests for proposals (RFPs) will be posted for programs that are otherwise invitation only.
While each program has unique guidelines, the following criteria are standard across all our giving programs:
  • Generally, within the United States, funding is limited to organizations recognized as public charities and currently listed in the IRS Current State Master File and public charity equivalents, such as units of governments, faith-based organizations serving the community and schools. If an international organization is not a U.S. 501(c)(3) publicly supported charity, the team must demonstrate that the non-U.S. grantee is the “equivalent” of a U.S. public charity (“equivalency determination”) or exercise “expenditure responsibility” (ER).
  • Organizations may apply to multiple programs at once if they meet the eligibility criteria of each program.
  • Neither Walmart nor the Walmart Foundation award grants to individuals. Only financial grants can be requested from our online applications. Requests for in-kind donations (products or gift cards) should be made to store management at your local Walmart or Sam’s Club facility.
How to Apply After you have reviewed the program guidelines, visit the Apply For Grants page and select the program you are eligible for from the drop-down menu. From here, you will begin the grant eligibility quiz, which will then direct you to Cybergrants, an external grant application platform, to start the application process. If you do not have a Cybergrants or Cybergrants FrontDoor account, you will be prompted to create one at this time. If you still have questions, see the general FAQs page and the program-specific FAQs located at the bottom of each program’s information page. If you have any technical difficulties while setting up your account or attempting to access an application, please reach out directly to CyberGrants by clicking the “Need Support?” button at the bottom of the application page.
