Job Title: Research Officer

Job Purpose

  • Be responsible for researching and monitoring human rights development within Africa and prepare advisories as necessary and also contribute to articles / publications.

Salary
The net salary for this post shall be USD 77, 122.80 (all-inclusive).

Job Title: Interpreter / Translator – English

Job Purpose

  • Be responsible for the Interpretation at the sessions and meetings of the ACHPR as well as for translating of the documents of the ACHPR from French, or Portuguese/Arabic into English.

Remuneration

  • Indicative basic salary of US$ 42,879.00 (P4 Step 1) per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. Post adjustment (46% of basic salary), Housing allowance US$17,514.00 per annum, education allowance (100% of tuition and other education related expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$10,000.00 per child per annum), etc. for internationally recruited staff and a maximum of US$ 3,300.00 per child per annum for every eligible dependent for national and locally recruited staff.

Job Details

  • The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) is an organ of the African Union established by virtue of Article 30 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. It was adopted by the OAU Assembly on 28 June 1981 and came into force on 21 October 1986 under the Organization of the African Unity to promote human and Peoples’ Rights and ensure their protection in Africa. The ACHPR’s was inaugurated on 12 June 1989 and its seat is in Banjul, the Gambia.

Job Purpose

  • Be responsible to work closely with the Commission to prepare document on cases for referral to the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

Salary
US $88,832.14 per annum.

Job Title: Senior Planning, Monitoring Evaluation Officer (Fixed term non-renewable)

Location: Banjul, The Gambia.
Grade: P3-5
Supervisor: Secretary to the Commission
Directorate: African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights

Job Purpose

  • The Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation officer will be responsible for designing and implementing the Monitoring and Evaluation activities of the ACHPR; assisting the Secretary to the Commission in preparing Quarterly, mid-year, and annual reports on progress and performance in meeting the mandate of ACHPR and will monitor the project activities on a regular basis, developing and maintaining the MIS of the Project.

Remuneration
The net salary for this post shall be $88,832.14 per annum (all-inclusive).
