Summary of the Second Episode or chapter two (2) of The Life Changer

Ummi was from the community of lafayette. She gained admission ti study in the university.Ummi’s father and her husband contracted the marruage before Ummi would go for her registration in the university.

Ummi discloses the mide of lufe freedom and carefree life of students in the university. She also told how difficult is to distinguish between students and lectures as they almost look the same. Ummi further disclosed the dresscode for different departments.law students were mandated to always put on white shirt with black trouser while some girls dressed half-naked.

As Ummi narrated her story , she mentioned her experiences with Salma, a girl involving a great deal if worldly experience and knowledge of fashion and culture. Ummi’s first experience with salma was at the registration office. Salma was last and barely 15mins on the queue out of frustration she started grumbling about how heartless the lectures in the university can be.

Salma engaged in a conversation with a young man , where she told him how policeman were better than lectures. She claimed that to get easy access to anything you need to pay. The guys you were to bring money, the ladies you date them.

John was cleaning the registration office. In this arrogance of Salma , she does not know that the young man who interrogates her is the lectures in charge of the registration she came for. This made everyone in the queue to be surprise although she acted in ignorance.

Ummi continues with her departmental registration. She is directed to the office of her department .HOD exchanges endearing pleasantries with Ummi, but she finds this pleasantry rather discomforting with the back memories of Salma experience..

* she hated three things, the fact that the HOD called her dear.

* His administration toward her attire.

* Finally the comment “you are better than i imagined” which made her use the toilet excuse.

Ummi manages to accommodate this just to get her matriculation number but leaves the offices angry due to the action of the HOD. Her matriculation number is UG0001.

Ummi finished all her registration by 4 0’clock, where she entered a tricycle ( keke na pep) and went home to prepare a meal for her husband.

Immediately her husband got hone , she told her husband the experience with Samuel Johnson, her department’s HOD .To her suprise, her husband and the HOD are very good friends and also helped in Ummi’s admission.
