Scholarship Update: Eiffel Scholarships for International Students

The French government is excited to offer fully funded scholarship programs for master’s and Ph.D. studies, inviting applications from international students of all nationalities. Below are the application procedures and requirements you need to know.

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program was established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to enable French higher education institutions to attract top foreign students to enroll in their masters and PhD programs.

Host Institution(s):

French Universities and Academic Institutions

Level of Study:

Master’s degree program, engineering program, or a joint doctoral program (joint supervision of dissertation and/or dual degree), in partnership with a partner institution abroad.

Fields of Study:

Two major disciplinary fields cover the following areas for the Master and Doctorate components:

For science and technology:

  • Biology and health
  • Ecological transition
  • Mathematics and digital
  • Engineering Sciences

For the humanities and social sciences:

  • French history, language, and civilization
  • Law and political science
  • Economics and management

Target group:

International students

Scholarship Value/Duration:

  • Master’s level: €1,181 monthly allowance, awarded for 12-36 months.
  • Ph.D. level: €1,700 monthly allowance, awarded for a maximum of 12 months.

The scholarship also covers various expenses such as international transportation, national transportation, health insurance, housing searches, and cultural activities. However, tuition fees are not covered.

Tuition fees are not covered by the Eiffel Programme. However, recipients of French government scholarships are exempt from tuition charges for programs leading to a national diploma (master, doctorate) or accredited engineering degree in public institutions of a scientific, cultural, or professional nature overseen by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, in accordance with article R719-49 of the national education code.
