West Africa Vocational Education (WAVE) – Our client, a Montessori private school, is recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of School

Location: Lekki, Lagos

Key Roles

Serve as a central leadership figure within the school and the local community.
Work closely with, and report directly to, the Directors.
Remains informed of trends, research, and legislation that may affect the school management, operation, and policy.
Tend to the issues that concern the school as a whole and will facilitate communication /build consensus among the teachers, staff, and families.
Have a larger vision for the future direction of the school while continuing to support and encourage the preservation of the Montessori philosophy throughout the school.

Key Roles

Represents and explains the school Montessori program to prospective families.
Oversees and coordinates recruitment of students.
Responsible for the administrative success of all school programs.
Works with Head Teachers to coordinate curricula.
Helps guide Head Teachers in achieving their educational goals.
Ensures that the school is in compliance with all applicable governmental laws and regulations.
Serves as Business Manager for the school
Executes the financial policy
Assists in coordination and execution of fund-raising plans.
Assists in recruitment of teaching staff and supervises the French and Music teachers/programs, coordinating across all classrooms
Selects and employs non-teaching personnel, and handles disciplinary issues
Administers equitable systems of compensation, working conditions, and professional development of all staff
Serves as spokesperson for the School
Maintains constructive liaisons with other educational institutions and associations.
Facilitates communication among all of the school’s constituents
Represents the school in the community at large.

Operations:

Oversees daily operations of the school, ensuring a safe and friendly environment.
Attends to tasks and responsibilities associated with the successful operation of the school (e.g. communication, security, maintenance) in an as-needed and sometimes hands-on capacity.
Supervises the maintenance of the school as an aesthetically attractive and safe environment.
Advises Board on policy changes and necessary action plans

Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of B.A. Degree, with knowledge of Montessori education, is strongly preferred.
Administrative experience in an educational setting with demonstrated leadership qualities is required.
6 – 7 years of Teaching experience part of which includes a school administrative position.
