How to Cleanse the Liver: Foods that helps in detoxifying the Liver – The Liver is the Biggest Gland in the Body. It has many functions which are very essential to Life and well-being. It is that Organ that filters, processes and breaks down what passes through the body.  It is known to Store Vitamins and Iron. The liver needs to be clean and cleansed from impurities. To detoxify or cleanse the liver, you are required to use the guidelines below.

Liver converts Stored Sugar into its usable form when there is an observed drop in the  body’s sugar level. It also destroys old red blood cells. It breaks down Fats by the production of bile, thus aiding their digestion.

When the Liver become overwhelmed with toxins and pollutants, its natural working cycle wanes gradually.  Our Liver could be overwhelmed with Alcohol, drugs, chemicals, processed and fried foods, especially when consumed in large quantities.

How to cleanse the Liver in the body

To cleanse your liver requires taking the right food or something it needs. To detoxify the liver and avoid cirrhosis or other kinds of diseases in the liver, there is need to read on the preventive and measures to take good care of your liver for a healthy liver.

Foods that can detoxify the liver from toxins

But some foods are known to Detoxify that is, Void out Toxins from the Liver.

These Foods are Natural unlike Artificial Detoxifiers. These Foods boost the Livers Ability to Detoxify.

Let’s look at some of these:

  1. Tea

Tea is known to be beneficial for health, and even much more, with evidence has shown to be beneficial for the Liver. A recent study in Japan revealed that drinking 5 – 10 cups of green tea a day was associated with improved blood markers of liver health. This may likely be traced to a compound called Catechin which is known to assist liver function.

Green tea is packed full of this plant antioxidant. However, be Careful not to take the Green Tea Extract, it can pose negative health issues. Stick to the Green Tea.

  1. Cruciferous Vegetables

This includes, but is not limited to, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, cabbage and kale.

These vegetables are major sources of Glutathione, which is known to trigger the toxin cleansing enzymes of the Liver. Eating cruciferous vegetables will also increase the Production of Glucosinolate in your system, which helps flush out Carcinogens (Cancer causing agents) and other toxins.

Leafy vegetables are high in chlorophyll, which flushes toxins out of the blood stream. They can neutralize heavy metals thus, protecting the liver.

  1. Turmeric

In addition to its use as a spice and pigment, turmeric has been used  for medicinal purposes. Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric, and it has powerful biological properties.  Turmeric helps the enzymes that flush out toxins and contains antioxidants that repair liver cells. It also assists the liver in detoxing metals, while boosting bile production.

  1. Citrus Fruits

In Addition to providing a big hit of Vitamin C, Citrus fruits stimulate the Liver and aid the synthesis of toxic materials into substances that are absorbable by water.  Grapefruit is even more beneficial as it contains two primary antioxidants: Naringin and Naringenin. These two help protect the liver from injury by reducing inflammation and protecting the Liver cells.

  1. Beetroot

Beets are composed of Vitamin C and a healthy dose of fiber which are both natural cleansers for the digestive system. But even more, Beets assist with increasing oxygen by cleansing the blood, and can break down toxic wastes to help them be excreted quicker. They stimulate the flow of bile and boost enzymatic activity.

  1. Garlic

Garlic is rich in Sulphur, which is known to activate Liver enzymes that help your body flush out toxins.  Garlic also holds high amounts of Selenium; an essential micronutrient that helps boost the natural antioxidant enzyme levels in our Livers. Selenium Supplements gives our livers even more ammunition in the fight against the damage caused by oxidative stress.

  1. Walnuts

Walnuts are Good sources of Glutathione, Omega-3 fatty acids, and the Amino acid Arginine, which supports normal liver cleansing actions, especially when detoxifying Ammonia.

  1. Carrots

Carrots are very high in plant-flavonoids and beta-carotene, which stimulates and supports liver function overall. They also contain Vitamin A, which prevents liver disease.

  1. Apples

Apples contain high levels of Pectin, a chemical that helps the body cleanse and release toxins from the digestive tract. With fewer toxins in the digestive tract, the Liver can better manage its toxin load, being able to better cleanse the rest of the body.

  1. Avocado

In addition to cleansing the Arteries, they help the body naturally produce Glutathione, the compound that helps the Liver rid itself of toxins.
