New Minimum Wage of N30,000 (30k) Resolution Update as Ngige meets with Labour The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige met with labour over the new minimum wage of N30,000 on how it will be and measures to be taken. Discussions has been made by Ngige and the leadership of organized labour on how the new minimum wage of N30,000 would be implemented for the benefits of all.

Anyway, there would still be another meeting on Tuesday by Ngige and other heads of government agencies and parastals to finalize on the amount that would be paid workers as Channels Tv reports.

According to Ngige, he said “We met with the leadership of the organised labour movement on the implementation of the new N30,000 minimum wage and the consequential adjustment of salaries for civil servants”.

He furthered said “The meeting was an information-sharing from the previous meeting between the government and the labour leaders”.

“We assured the union leaders that we would remain neutral in the whole negotiation and appealed to members of the union to show some understanding” he added.

Update from Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)

Recall, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) warns that there would be strike as they directed its state councils. NLC said that the strike would commence on October 16, 2019, if Federal Government breaks down again in this new negotiation over new minimum wage of N30,000.

“It was a notice in case the proposed negotiations slated for October 15, 2019 turned down again, that is to say, does not favour Nigeria Labour,” excerpt from a circular sent to state councils, signed by its General Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Ugboaja and publicized by NLC

If there is a positive dialogue or negotiation that would favour labour, believe me, there will be a change in all dimension. Even, NYSC corps members would benefit more as they would use the money to achieve something greater after one year youth service.
